Perkasie’s Zoning Hearing Board has denied a variance to allow developer Perkasie Place LLC to build 76 apartments on a parcel off Constitution Avenue in Perkasie.
The board made a brief announcement of the decision on Monday night after hearing arguments. A written opinion will follow in the coming weeks.
The hearing lasted three hours with extensive public comments. The decision was announced at 11:45 p.m.
On October 7, Perkasie Borough Council publicly announced its opposition to the 76-unit complex and that its solicitor would argue against the variance at the Zoning Hearing Board. Later, Sellersville Borough followed suit. The 7.939-acre parcel is mostly located in Perkasie Borough.
Perkasie Place LLC of Doylestown, PA sought variances for the property at 505 Constitution Avenue (TMP #33-009-001), now zoned I-2, to permit a multifamily residential use (76 units) and reduce the horizontal distance between facing building walls.
Perkasie Place LLC now has the option of appealing the decision to the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.
Perkasie Borough was represented by Brandon M. Callahan from Begley, Carlin & Mandio. Attorney David M. Shafkowitz represented Perkasie Place LLC.
